Photojournalism, Color

I am needing some advice and opinions on these two pictures. I want to enter them in the State Fair, under the category "Photojournalism." What I need to know is this: when you look at the photograph, can you see the story? There will be no captions allowed so the judges must be able to get the story that I am trying to convey. I'm ok with all the technical aspects of the photos, have them printed out, and they look great. I just want honest opinions on whether or not you can see what I wanted you to see.... ok next one is in b/w....
