CLIP ART

i have strayed a bit to another site that has neat contest, but allow clip art..have not had too much luck in winning contest because i can't bring myself to use someone else's images..i use my own images and graphics in the competition and usually lose to cheap clip art..
i believe some members have left Artalyst because they are only skilled using other's images..imo, it's only really art when you have done it all yourself.. any opinions?

I don't think it's any less "art" but it certainly isn't solely that person's art. To pass it off as your own is dishonest IMO. To admit to using someone elses art in your own is honest, but lazy IMO.

To use something that has been gotten from somewhere else and not done by the submitter, is totally out of the realm of (Art and Artist). However, that is my own opinion. There are those who feel that what I do is not Artistic, because I use the computer to create, rather than my own fingers and a shutter or brush or pencil. So, we have an impasse here.

Myself? No matter what the Competition is, it would have to be what I made with my own eyes and fingers on the mouse, shutter or pen, or brush. I'm with you here, Jim
