Long time no see!

Eurydice's picture

Hi,

I haven't come by here in ages, and so glad to see this place is still on-line. Been looking around a bit, see lots of people that I know are still here.. how awesome

Zee, glad this place is still alive. Going to check out the galleries, perhaps you'll see me drop by more often :-)

Welcome back Eury! Glad you stopped by before the 5 year anniversary.

Thanks for the welcome Z, looks like there are big projects in the works! Yay! I try to stop by tomorrow and put some new stuff in the gallery so you can all see what I've been up to. :-)

Hi Eury, Like you, I hadn't been here for long time. It's good to see you back and posting some of your wonderful photos!

Thanks Guys, nice to see some friendly faces ... I can't believe how long it's been, but I'm so glad to be back.. and Los, too.. man, it's been ages, how have you been?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been pretty busy. (Wish the site let you know when someone posts to a discussion, ie: subscribe) I've been okay. Life has thrown some crazy stuff at me the past few years for sure. I'm full time with the photography now and while broke I sure am happier. How is life for you?

Under Eury's original post, there is a link to subscribe to this post. However, the new site features will expand on this allowing you to subscribe to this post, this forum, this author, etc.

Wow, full time photography... Good for you! That's awesome and so much more fun than the job you didn't really love, as I remember. I'll have to check your stat page, surely your website is announced there. As for me, life is good.. I do mostly freelancing, and right now times are a bit tough for people, so less jobs for me but I'm squeaking by! :-P

Squeaking by... Isn't that the truth. If you go to www.lineofsightphoto.com you can get to my wedding site, blog and senior site.

I went for a look and especially like the wedding images.. one in particular that I love is where the girl (in color) has the veil wrapped around her and her hubby to be is slightly out of focus behind.. that one is just adorable! Love the LOS logo too, really nice! Congrats. :-)

Thanks, we've been working really hard on them.

Hey! I just stopped by for the first time today in ages myself. I'm so glad to see familiar faces, and the site still up. Hope all is well with everyone. :)

I hope to see lots more of the people that used to be here, I hadn't realised how much I missed the place until I came back! :-)

It is awesome to see some life come back here but I still think it needs something more. I adore Artalyst & it helped me grow a lot, I just hate that it just "exists". There is so much more that could be done with a site like this.
LosdaBear's picture
That's the biggest problem... Artalyst just exists. And that is a shame.

Are you talking about more, as in the new stuff I'm adding? Or more in addition to that? Cause I'd love to hear some suggestions. I like getting input.
LosdaBear's picture
I think a big problem Zee is that there aren't enough members to create a community. That more than anything is what is lacking. Community. I have no idea how that gets created other than by the members.

Advertising has worked for us in the past. I intend to do it again. But recently when I tried it, I got people here but they didn't stay. Seemed a waste of a lot of hard earned money. I decided to spend that money on the "complete" development of the site, to the way I had originally planned for the site to be 5 years ago. We're really close to having that now. It's been a long and slow process and I knew the site would suffer some with the lack of community and activity, but I was looking at the goal and not the journey there. . When we have the site to a point where people will stay here when they come, I'll put that money back into advertising. And when the site starts generating funds, I'll put that into advertising. Because the more people that browse the site, the more potential customers for our artists to sell their artwork. . As I promised in the past, Artalyst will never go away. Its been a slow, but exponential, rise to completion. It was just a one man team for a long time, now its a two man team. I never had external financial help, no rich uncles, no bank want to finance artsy sites, so it made the crawl to this point slow. But what waits around the corner will be great, I know it.
LosdaBear's picture
Glad to hear it Zee. I'm not knocking you, just letting you know what I think might be an issue. Artalyst has always attracted an interesting group of people, I hope that continues.

I definitely wasn't knocking it either. I have a huge fondness for this site. I would just liek to see it thrive like it deserves to.

Oh I know you guys are of the most loyal site members. Just thought you had more suggestions you were holding back from me ;-) . Soon the new site will be available online so people can test it out and give feedback before going live.
