Finally buying a new camera - 50D or 7D?

RebeccaBridges's picture

I have always been a Canon girl, and now I am finally in a position to get a new camera. What I can't decide is which to get. A 50D will use all my lenses, batteries ect, but a 7D has a few more megapixels. It also has video which I could care less about, I just wonder if the 7D is really worth the extra money in the end. The higher end models are still way out of my budget range, so not even an option. If I got the 50D I could also afford a macro lens and a shutter release, a decent flash, and a few more goodies.
Any opinions out there?

Go with the 50D sweets.
A few more megapixels don't truly matter. Once you are over 10 it's all really is the same. Unless you are making your images into billboards=)
Besides.....think of all the extra goodies you can buy if you get the 50D!

I'd be more inclined to go for the 7D. What lenses would not work with it? Batteries are different, yes. And I also couldn't care less about video. The 7D is the first camera in this price range to be dust and weather resistant. That alone would make me go in that direction.
