Composition:
I think the composition is a good start. The rule of thirds has been maintained fairly well. However, I think you loose too much detail and gather way too much distraction without zooming in a bit. If you were to crop in tighter eliminating the distracting blown out sky, and the car to the left, I think it would look better. The garbage can on the left is unfortunate, next time try to position yourself so that you can get that vanishing point with no blockage.

Creativity:
Nothing really creative here, but that's not to fault. Creativity is not always required. Nice but not required.

Subject
The main subject is wonderful, some of the background is also nice like the old homes, large tree, and lines on the foreground. Others are not such as the powerlines, garbage can and cars. Some of that can't be avoided, but some of it could by thinking about the shot before taking it. Sometimes you may not have the time to think, but it will come naturally the more you do it.

Technical:
Not much I can say except get a better camera if you want to make better photos. If not you can always wait for the right lighting conditions to match the film type you are using. Although this could be touched up quite a bit in a image editing program. Increase the contrast by a lot more specifically.

Image Quality:
This image needs rotating about 4 or 5 degrees clockwise badly. The horizon is off enough to seem like a mistake, and not enough to look trendy.

thanks for the input...very well written and displays a great deal of thought.

it is interesting to see what happens when one just holds a cheapo disposable or toy camera towards a subject, i think.

all mistakes are neither planned against nor planned for correction.

"planned" randomness, i suppose.

man, i do hope that these cars will be running again soon.

Nice vintage feel to this shot. As a 'candid' shot I think it's great. Futzing with it to make it 'perfect' would, for me, ruin it completely and take away the atmosphere.
