What a day of discovery this has been for me! I am so enthused right now I must apologize if I ramble!!!
First of all I have gotten a few critiques by The Critic! I have been searching for comments like this forever! Not that I dont enjoy everyone's comments, because I do, but this guy provided me with a WEALTH of knowledge! More brain food so to speak. And yes one photo was called my worst - AND I LOVED THAT! I didn't think so when I posted it. I read what was said and I looked at it some more, keeping in mind what was said. Looked at it some more and thought - yeah - it IS a pretty crappy pic! So what in the world was I thinking??? But from that pic came more information for me to use the next time I go out and shoot!!!! Just like Eury's comments on Los's erotic photo - I tried to keep in my mind the things she had said to him, to help me out in taking my first nudes.

Then this evening, I got a phone call from another online photographer friend saying he was here in town for the fair! We have talked a lot but never met until tonite! I showed him some of the problems I was having with my photos being soft, and he showed me some things in PS that I didnt know and really should have known! Turns out I was submitting my images as if they were going to be printed, rather than submitting them for viewing online! So hopefully I can contribute better photos from now on!

I thought maybe my eyes were going bad, or my camera was screwed up, because when I shot the pics, they looked perfectly in focus to me. But I was overworking them amongst other things!!!! What a lightbulb day this has been to me! I feel like I just took a class - and now I cannot wait to try some more things!!!!!!! Im so excited if you can't tell! Im gettin there guys!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Out of 6 entries at The Kansas State fair, I found out today that I got 2 1st place blue ribbons which I have pointed out LOL! I picked 6 different categories, and put what I felt was my best work into each one. Im sooo excited about it even though its just the state fair, but it was the first time I have put any work for judging like that. I cannot wait until next year now! I want to push myself harder, for more interesting photos, more technically "right" photos ect... WOOOO!

That is so great to hear Rebecca. I should be critiquing more but haven't because I just haven't felt like investing the time. Basically pure laziness. you're right too, you have to think about presentation... Right now the max size of the image here is bigger than you will ever see it. If I remember correctly the maximum size is 540 pixels in width. So what I do is, i work my image at full size. Do everything to make it look the best it can be. Resize and save to 540 wide. Then I resharpen, whether it's by unsharp mask, the hi-pass method or with one of two Fred Miranda plug-ins. I've had people ask how I get images to be sharp like that and that is it. Resharpen after your resize.
